I know how much I’ve been enjoying the festive season, stuffing my face with mince pies and mulling wine without a care… I even donned a multitude of knitwear to play in the snow this week, and I’m not ashamed to admit it warmed the cockles of my heart. I hope that all our readers are enjoying Christmas time just as much as I have been but am well aware that for a lot of women, Christmas is a time of fear, isolation and violence.

For a lot of us, Christmas conjures up images of home, and of family. For many women however these words imply danger and harm, in the form of domestic violence. (more…)

This December, BFFs Kristie Bishop and Coralie Sleap are making the run up to Christmas that little bit cooler with the launch of their ‘Drink Shop & Do’ events. For the first 3 weekends of the month 9 Caledonian Road, a lovely old Victorian bath house right near Kings Cross Station, will be transformed with vintage furniture and crafty Christmas cheer to create a rather distinctive drinking, shopping and socialising experience.
“We realised there was a gap in the market for a place to be entertained, inspired and to socialise. By working together and combining the things we love to do we are creating something exciting and unique.” says Coralie. And the things Kriste and Coralie love are things we love, and we’re sure you will too!
There will be craft nights with Stitch & Bitch (3rd December), Finishing School (4th December), Smack My Stitch Up (17th December), plus a Otesha Project DIY ethical fashion workshop. If you’re not feeling up to crafting yourself, there’s always a chance to buy, rather than make. And with lovely refreshments in the form of cocktails, cake, tea and sandwiches, what’s not to love?
Drink Shop and Do will be open 12pm to 12am, Thursday to Sunday for the three weekends in December (from the 3rd to the 20th)
